Machine Roomless Elevator

The type of elevator whose drive motor can be mounted on the hoistway or on the car and does not require an elevator machine room is called MDA for short. Machine roomless elevators aim to use a gearless machine that sits in the hoistway, allowing manufacturers to place the machine at the top of the hoistway. In short, it eliminates the need for a machine room above the elevator shaft. Using a counterweight helps the machine rotate the elevator pulleys that move the car along the hoistway. Most commonly found in hotels, apartments, mixed-use buildings and commercial offices, MRL elevators can handle 2 to 25 floors and have flexible designs. Large capacity (4,000 lbs and up) accommodates heavier cabinet liners.

Using MRL elevators will result in significant energy savings (estimated 70-80%) compared to hydraulic elevators. The power supply of the MRL is also significantly reduced as the traction equipment provides a more efficient design and stability. MRL lifters eliminate the cost and environmental concerns associated with hydraulic fluid-filled inline hydraulic cylinders. Over the years, hydraulic lifts have gained more attention due to embedded hydraulic cylinders. The MRL elevator is more known to hold as it is a traction elevator with all its components on the ground. MRL elevators use gearless traction machines that provide superior performance and ride quality over hydraulic elevators. MRLs can also operate at higher speeds, increasing the quality perception of the highly preferred hydraulic lifts.
